For a platform installation study, thec modelled the Type 183 heavy cargo vessel and her dynamic positioning system. The lifting arrangement including spreader beams is accurately represented by a multi-body system. Motions of both vessel and platform as well as loads during the installation process were determined in irregular wave simulations.
